Tool steel has good strength, toughness, hardness, wear resistance, and tempering stability. It is mainly used for manufacturing various cutting tools, forming tools, and measuring tools.
Tools made of tool steel have sufficiently high hardness after heat treatment. For example, tools used for metal cutting are usually higher than HRC60. The tool can still maintain high hardness and good red hardness under the conditions of high cutting speed and high-temperature heating caused by processing hard materials. Carbon tool steel and alloy tool steel generally maintain high hardness at 180c~250c, and high-speed tool steel maintains high hardness at about 600C. Red hardness is a very important property of hot deformation die and high-speed cutting tool steel.
Tool steel has good wear resistance, that is, wear resistance. The tool can maintain its shape and size under considerable pressure and friction.
The tool steel has certain strength and property so that the tool can bear complex stress such as load, impact, vibration, and bending in the work, so as to ensure the normal use of the tool.
Due to the different working conditions of various tools, tool steel also has some other properties, such as die steel should also have certain high-temperature mechanical properties, thermal fatigue properties, thermal conductivity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. In addition to the above properties, tool steel should also have good technical properties.
